This page is a "work in progress".
It includes our peronal favourite places in and around Krakow.
In time it will grow and evolve.


Restaurants:

Ogniem i Mieczem (With Fire & Sword) - Meat lovers paradise! Huge portions of excellent rustic Polish food in lovely interiors with huge fireplaces. Website in Polish language only, but do take a look at "galeria" ;-)

Milk & Co - Delicious all you can eat fare!

Polakowski - Local dining experience. Inexpensive hearthy food. Great soups!

U Pani Stasi - Uniquely Polish (Bar Mleczny" or "Milk Bar") canteen style restaurant. Expect being seated wedged between actors, Nobel Price winners and homeless people.

Endzior - The best (and The largest) breaded chicken cutlet with stewed cabbage. Also humongous ribs and famous "zapiekanka" (toasted baguette with different choice of toppings).


Kraków for kids:

Museum of Technology - (Muzeum Inzynierii Miejskiej) - Kids of all ages will love this place! Website in Polish language only.

ZOO - Pictoresque place in "Wolski" Forest.

Aquapark - Cracow’s Aqua Park is one of the greatest of its kind in Europe. It offers marvelous fun for all the family, featuring attractions such as sauna, hydro-massage, jacuzzi, climbing walls and 800 meters of totally twisted slides!

Dragon's Den (Smocza Jama) - Home of The Dragon ;-)


Clubs:

Kitch - Good atmosphere, good tunes, good drinks. Website in Polish language only.

Pauza - Club, Art Gallery & Cinema. All in one place.


Museums & Galleries:

Galerie d'Art Naif - The best gallery in Poland featuring contemporary Polish Folk, Naive and Primitive Art.

The Bishop Erazm Ciolek Palace - "The Erazm Ciolek Palace houses two complementary collections: Art of Old Poland and Orthodox Art of the Old Polish Republic, that jointly create an image of old Polish art in the time of the Polish-Lithuanian Republic (“The Commonwealth of Two Nations”)."

The Home Army Museum - is the only museum in Poland that provides a total view of the Polish fight against invaders and occupiers from east and west over the last 100 years.

Polish Aviation Museum - The Krakow Aviation Museum took over a few buildings and part of the grounds of the Rakowice-Czyzyny airfield, one of the oldest military airfields in Europe. Formed at Czyzyny in 1964, the museum preserves and exhibits aircraft, engines and other items of importance to the world's aviation heritage and these form a premier European collection.

The Princes Czartoryski Museum - Home of The famous "Lady with Hermine" by Leonardo DaVinci.

Bars / Cafes

Massolit - "Massolit Books is an English-language used bookstore and cafe located a few minutes from Krakow's old town center.[click for Map] The bookstore stocks about 20,000 titles from a wide range of subjects, both academic and popular. We specialize in classic and contemporary literature and academic titles in the Humanities with strong collections in Women's Studies, Jewish Studies, Polish and Central/East European Literature and History, and Asian Studies, among others. Most of our titles are either used books brought from the U.S., or new books that have been significantly discounted."

Beach ;-)

Kryspinów - "Real beach sand, crystal clean water, a guarded swimming area with waterslides, a beach volleyball court and a playground for the little ones can all be found at Kryspinow, not to mention a treat for the adults - Hawana Bar, which organizes numerous events and beach parties throughout the summer." Worth mentioning is the the fact that you can find there the only (in this part of Poland) nudist beach!

Desert!

Błędowska Desert - "Not dessert, but desert. Poland really has one, and it’s the biggest in Europe. Forty kilometres north west of Kraków lies the Pustyna Błędowska"
